Jenna and Derek’s Lakefront Wedding

At The Lodge at Geneva On The Lake

Jenna and Derek were married on a perfect July day. The sun was out, and there was a steady, cool breeze coming off Lake Erie. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were getting ready in separate cottages at The Lodge at Geneva On The Lake. The Lodge is a spectacular venue for weddings for a bunch of reasons that I’ll get into in this post.

Jenna and Derek decided to do a “first touch,” before the ceremony. They each had their back to the opposite side of a tree and ready vowed to each other while holding hands. They did not nook at each other.

The ceremony was in front of the large gazebo, with the blue lake and sky as the backdrop. Jenna and Derek had touching ceremony. Derek’s uncle was the officiant, so there was a real sincerity and personal touch to the event.

After the ceremony, we did a series of formal photos in front of the gazebo, and wedding party/couples photos near the lake. There are so many picturesque spots near the water. We would have liked to spend a bit more time taking couple’s photos, but we had to head inside for the reception. We decided to come back out once the sunset to get more shots by the lake.

There was an energy about this group. It was one of those receptions that I knew was gonna be off the hook. Joe, from Starlight Entertainment, was getting everyone primed for the dancing. He is a very unique MC and has a way of getting people pumped up. From the very first song, the floor was packed. There were glowsticks flying everywhere. I was loving the dance floor shots I was getting.

Sunset came, and Jenna, Derek and I headed back to the lake for some night shots. We decided to get a little adventurous and take some photos on the rocks. The photos turned out great. It was definitely worth taking a quick break form the dancing to get these shots.
